OUR
CATHOLIC
PRIMARY SCHOOL
Lumen Christi
School is an integral part of the
Parish
Community. It
has a very important role to play
in
assisting our
catholic parents in their God
given
responsibility
of passing on the fullness of
Catholic
Faith to their
children. This can only be
accomplished
through good example. As
parents give an example of a
growing faith and a joyful
participation in our Catholic
Parish community, our school backs
up, reinforces and
deepens this home-based and
parish-based faith experience for
the children.
This has always been the
principle reason that Catholic
Schools exist at all,
though it is not the only
reason.
Lumen Christi
School also provides an excellent
all round education in a caring
and supportive environment for all
our children no matter what their
family or religious background may
be. Every child is deeply
valued and encouraged to grow to
become the best they can be in
every facet of
education and
life. I believe this is one of the
main
reasons why
Lumen Christi School is so highly
esteemed
in the broader
Churchill and surrounding
community.
I commend this
School Review booklet to you as a
means
to help us
strive together to maintain and
expand the
quality and
excellence of catholic education
offered at Lumen
Christi School.
Finally, I offer
my grateful thanks to our
Principal,
Miss Denise
McKenna and her staff for their
dedication and
professionalism
and for their faith and love in
carrying
out the
commission of Lumen Christi
School. Our school
is a vital part
of the mission of teaching and
loving service
given to our
Catholic faith community and to
all
Christians by
Jesus Christ Himself

of a relevant and challenging
curriculum so that the children

standards for teachers and students
and we strive to develop a culture
of excellence in individual and team
activities.

SCHOOL RENEWAL
PRIORITIE
Our Process of School Renewal
centred on the following areas of
School Life:
v The
Religious & Spiritual
Dimensions of the School
v Curriculum
Development & Teaching Practice
v Student
Learning & Assessment
v Pastoral
Care & Student Welfare within
the School Community
v The
School, Parents, Parish and the
Wider Community
v Facilities,
Resources & Management of the
School
The process involved consultation
and surveys with Staff, Parents,
Students, Parish Priest, School
Board and Parish Council. It was the
role of the School Renewal Team to
direct and collate the process to
reflect the views and aspirations of
all stake-holders.
It was a process of both
affirmation for current good
practice and challenge for areas
which need to be improved.
A School Leadership Team and the
School Board will monitor the
implementation of the priorities
over the next five year period.
